Spotlight: Capturing the Bride by Samantha Holt

Capturing the Bride
Samantha Holt
Publication date: April 7th 2020
Genres: Adult, Historical Romance

If one is very, extremely desperate, then one may call on the services of a clandestine group of men.
The Kidnap Club—known to few—specialize in helping women out of difficult situations.

Arranged marriages to awful men, for example.

Miss Grace Beaumont is at her mercy of her uncle who is determined she marry the depraved Mr. Worthington. Desperate times call for…well, the Kidnap Club.

It seems insane. Perhaps it is. But anything is better than being married to that man.

Lord Nash Fitzroy has looked after many a kidnapee over the past few years, but none make him want to break the cardinal rules as much as Grace. Her determined spirit, quick wit, and, let’s be honest, her pretty looks have him struggling to remember his role in this.

Protector, defender, and occasional shoulder to cry on.

His way with women and the almost derelict offerings of his ancestral home as a hideaway make him a perfect pretend kidnapper. He doesn’t much mind the money involved either, seeing as his father cut him off.

Which means, he cannot afford to get this wrong. No matter how tempted he is to show Grace that Worthington is not a prime example of how a man should be and burn the damned rule book.

EXCERPT:

She huffed and unfolded her arms. “I cannot help that I am boring, Nash. I am sorry I do not have a crumbling mansion and a mysterious past.” She lifted her hands. “This is me. I have little ambition and I like animals. That is it. I am boring.”

Nash rose to his feet before he had quite fathomed what he was doing. He strode over and took her elbows in his hands, drawing her up to meet him. Her lips parted and her eyes widened.

“What are you—?”

“Do not ever say that again,” he said firmly.

“But—”

“You are far, far, far from boring.”

He curled a hand around her neck and kissed her. Hard. It took all of two seconds. Two mere seconds and they were pressed together, her lips beneath his. Two seconds to break all of his silent promises to himself, to Grace, and all those very real promises he had made to Guy.

She tasted so damned good, he couldn’t bring himself to regret it.

After a little squeak of surprise, she settled against him, and he wrapped an arm around her waist to bring her closer. Her fingers dug into his upper arms while he explored her lips with his—only briefly, long enough to gain entrance.

She made another sound, one that tugged deep inside him and made him harder than a stone statue. Her body softened further, and he gripped her to him tight, pushing the kiss hard and deep, sweeping his tongue into her mouth with a groan.

It was no good. He was lost to her.

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Release Date: April 21st

Her mind says no…

Wren Donovan’s done with love. Betrayed and humiliated by her ex-fiancé, she retreats to her family’s beach house on Heron Harbor Island to lick her wounds and gorge herself on ice cream, spray cheese, and a box of glazed donuts. Wren vows to devote herself to her law career and swears off men forever, but she isn’t prepared for what being reunited with her oldest friend makes her feel…

His heart says yes, please…

Smith Connors can’t believe his eyes when Wren walks into his restaurant. He’s loved her since they were kids, when summertime found them inseparable best friends. As a boy, he’d never felt good enough for Wren. But now he’s a rising-star chef with a thriving business who knows what he wants—which means he’s not letting beautiful, brilliant Wren get away again.

Smith determines to show Wren how good they could be together, and soon neither of them can resist the heat growing between them. He’d do anything to earn her faith—and her heart, if only she could learn to trust again.

Exclusive Excerpt:

"How did you know about me wanting to make partner?" Wren asked as they climbed the porch steps of her family’s beach house.

Smith laughed. "You're not the only Donovan sister to eat at my restaurant. Raven keeps me up to date on you, too."

"I'm surprised she mentions me."

"Only when I ask. I like hearing about what you're up to."

Wren's head tilted. "Really? After all this time?"

He met her gaze. "Always."

After blooming into a slow smile, she said. "That's nice."

"It's the truth. You stopped coming to the island but I didn't stop caring about you. We were good friends...once." Smith reached for one of her hands.

She nodded. "We were. Friends." Wren looked like she might say something else, but then looked down at their entwined fingers. "I didn't know what to expect when I went to the restaurant tonight." She lifted her lashes to gaze at him again. "But somehow I knew you'd make everything okay." His heart thrummed. "I'm glad. I'd do anything to put a smile on your face."

Her lids tightened just slightly as she peered at him as if with new eyes. "You're the same but different. In a good way. Is that weird to say?"

He grinned as he shook his head. "No. So are you."

Wren looked surprised. "How so?"

Drawing closer, his voice softened. "I always knew you were smart and would be a huge success. And you were always the prettiest girl on the island in summer. But now, damn woman, you're more beautiful than I ever imagined."

Wren’s cheeks flushed pink and her gaze turned down to the floorboards. "You're just saying that."

Gently, Smith cupped her jaw and bored into her dazzling green eyes. "I never say anything I don't mean."

She nodded, her pupils dilating. "Oh-kay."

"The fact that you don't know how gorgeous you are tells me you've never been with a man who truly appreciates you. And that's a damn shame." Smith's fingers slid to the back of her neck and threaded through her hair. "A smart man would understand your value and worship you. Have you ever been

worshiped, Wren?"

Wren swallowed hard. "No."

"Would you like to know how it feels?"

"Yes," she whispered.

Without another word his mouth closed on hers. He kissed her softly at first, savoring the exquisite taste and feel of her flesh. His tongue darted across her lower lip, then dipped into her mouth. A tiny whimper escaped her throat and she answered by stroking his tongue with hers. Turning her head slightly, she opened her mouth to grant him better access. Accepting her invitation, he plunged deeper, nibbling on her bottom lip then sucking it into his mouth. Wren's knees wobbled. She wrapped her arms around his firm torso, pulling herself against him. Fierce need swelled in him, sending heat straight to his groin as a low growl rumbled in his chest. They kissed for what seemed like hours, discovering each other as raindrops spattered the porch roof. Finally, breathless and filled with so much want he could scream,

Smith pulled away.

"Wow," she said as her chest heaved.

"Yeah. Wow."

Cover Reveal: Power Switch by Kennedy L. Mitchell

Genre: Romantic Political Suspense

Date: April 20, 2020

Lies. Deceit. Espionage. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg here in DC.

My boyfriend is fake engaged, I’m pretty sure someone out there is trying to kill me, and now a sexy-as-sin attorney from the Justice Department is investigating me and I have zero clue as to why. Torn between duty and love, I’m not just floundering in my role as VP, I’m drowning.

When the pieces of the president’s plan come to light, I know I have to stop him. Permanently this time. How I’ll get out of this alive, I have no idea, but at least I still have my favorite secret service agent, Trey Benson, by my side—for now.

I’ll do whatever it takes to remove Kyle from office, even if it means sacrificing everything I love. Again.

Power Switch is the third book in the five-book Power Play series and is a continuation of Randi and Trey’s epic love story. The books in this series cannot be read as standalones. All five books follow one main couple's relationship as it grows through a five-year time period. It's suspenseful, steamy, and oh so unputdownable. If you're a fan of Tiffany Snow, Meghan March, and Skye Warren, then this series is for YOU!

Spotlight: Her Homecoming Wish by Jo McNally

She’s ready to shed her good-girl ways…“You’re all about following the rules now?“Pity.”Mackenzie Wallace hopes there’s still some bad boy lurking beneath single father Danny Adams’s upright exterior. Being the proverbial good girl left her brokenhearted and alone in the past. Now she’s back in town and wants excitement with her high school crush—not love. Dan knows their connection runs deep, despite Mackenzie’s protests. But will their new personas work together—especially when Dan’s secret is exposed?

Excerpt

Dan returned, thankfully ending the conversation. He handed her a glass, but it wasn’t beer.

“I thought you might want some water to hydrate yourself from all your…uh…activity.”

“In other words, you agree I’ve had enough beer tonight? You’re right—this is not a typical Friday night for me.” Remembering she was here to start a more fun-loving life, she lifted her chin. “At least it wasn’t before tonight.”

Owen leaned forward to make himself heard over the music. “Hey, Dan, you bike, right? A bunch of us are going to do the loop around the lake Sunday. Wanna join us?”

Mack’s eyes went wide. “Dan, you still have your motorcycle? I used to love the way that thing rumbled…”

Kiara’s eyebrows rose, and Mack realized she sounded gushy. But she hadn’t thought of Dan pulling up behind the liquor store on that dark red Harley of his in a long time. He’d been every teenage girl’s bad-boy dream—handsome, reckless and restless. She used to run to the back window when she heard him coming, just to watch him pull that helmet off and run his fingers through his hair, wearing those tight jeans.

Was it hot in here, or was it her memories that were heating her up right now? She gulped down the cold water, nearly emptying the glass in one pull. Dan was saying something. Oh, damn. Dan was talking and she wasn’t even listening…

“…think Owen’s referring to bicycles, not motorcycles.” He nodded toward Owen. “I’ve got Chloe this weekend, so I’ll have to pass.” His mouth slanted into a half grin as he turned back to Mack. “But yes, I still have the old Harley. It’s been in mothballs for a few years, but I can’t seem to part with that last vestige of my misspent youth.”

That bad boy might still be in there…

“You know, I’ve never been on a motorcycle. You should give me a ride sometime…”

Dan coughed and the others laughed. That wasn’t the kind of ride she’d meant, of course. Or was it? Rather than apologize, she just met his gaze and shrugged.

There was a spark of something in his eyes. Interest? He closed them and shook his head, as if chasing away whatever thoughts she’d put there.

About the Author

Jo McNally lives in upstate New York with 100 pounds of dog and 200 pounds of husband – her slice of the bed is very small. When she's not writing or reading romance novels (or clinging to the edge of the bed...), she can often be found on the back porch sipping wine with friends, listening to an eclectic playlist. If the weather is perfect, she might join her husband on the golf course, where she always feels far more competitive than her actual skill-level would suggest.

Spotlight: Childish Dreams by Malorie Verdant

It was just a singing competition, aired to thousands of people live on television.

It was just a choice.

One between the boy who has always supported her and the teen rock star who was paid to judge her.

It was just a fantasy world.

Filled with moments of fear, euphoria and jealousy.

It was a childish dream.

One that she was willing to fight for.

About The Author:

I first started reading romance when I was twelve. My mother handed me her copy of Nora Robert's Midnight Bayou and with resignation said, "Here you'll love it, just skip the sex scenes or at least tell me you did."She knew I was young and she hoped I didn't understand the diverse innuendos, but she also saw early on that I was a hopeless romantic and had a joy and thirst for romance novels that not even she and her protective motherly instincts could stop.
