It’s only a matter of time before he gets what he’s come for.

Cassie Harris has turned her back on best friend Laney Blake. She had no other choice. Laney is one of them now, a creature of the trees. As Cassie’s senior year wears on, the woods grow quiet, snow blankets the ground, and the murderous beings who once taunted her have drifted away like the brittle leaves of Fall. Though the woods no longer stir with rushed whispers and wind-blown laughter, the fear remains.

No one understands this fear better than Cassie. She wishes she could tell them not to worry. After all, the shape-shifting men of the trees and the women who travel with them, seeking out girls to abduct from carnivals, are gone. And the one that stayed behind? He isn’t interested in anyone but her.

Now, Aidan’s interest in Cassie is a chilling reminder of the what lurks at woods edge. He stalks her home, her school, her bedroom. He won’t stop until he can find a way to lure Cassie into the forest to become one with him forever.

Spotlight: Cross Creek Series by Kimberly Kincaid

From USA Today bestselling author Kimberly Kincaid comes CROSSING PROMISES, the third standalone title in the Cross Creek series, releasing March 5th! A series filled with rugged, salt of the earth heroes who happen to be brothers, and strong family dynamics. Each standalone novel is filled with heart, humor, and heat. Order your copies of the Cross Creek series today!

For Owen Cross, the only thing that matters more than family is farming. As the oldest Cross brother, the land is his legacy, and he’ll do whatever it takes to make Cross Creek a success—including hiring local widow Cate McAllister to manage the bookkeeping tasks that are growing in his office like weeds. Cate’s as pragmatic as she is pretty, and she rattles his hard-fought composure at every turn.

Cate had known a lot of things about her husband before he died three years ago in a car accident, but how much debt he’d gotten them into wasn’t one of them. She needs her job at Cross Creek, even if her boss is both gruff and gorgeous. But Owen’s a family man, through and through, and the last thing Cate is interested in is anything—or anyone—with strings attached.

As Owen and Cate join forces to right the farm, they discover there’s more to the other than the surfaces shows, and that passion can be found in unexpected places. Can Cate heal from the loss of one family to gain the love of her life? Or will the past prove too much for the promise of the future?

Excerpt

Cate dragged a hand through her hair, her gaze moving over the boxes in disbelief. “Let me see if I’ve got this right. You don’t do any of your bookkeeping online. At all?”

“We do. Just not a lot of it,” he amended. The Cross men lived to work the land, not the ledgers. Sure, their current system was a little time consuming, but it wasn’t totally ineffective. Cross Creek had been running on it for decades. “We have software right here on the computer.” He paused to pull up the program they used for much of their bookkeeping before adding, “It’s just that none of us are great at using it.”

“So I see,” Cate said after a quick perusal over his shoulder.

Irritation splashed through Owen’s chest. “Our books aren’t that bad.”

The parting of her lips said she was primed and ready to take him to the mat on that count, and damn it, he really didn’t have time to argue with her. “Look, I know it’s going to take some work to get things running smoothly in here.”

“It’s going to take a lot more than that,” she murmured with a shake of her head, and just like that, Owen’s patience redlined.

“Can you do it, or should I find someone else?”

Once again, his words came out gruffer than planned. But before he could even think of cooking up an apology, Cate’s arms had snapped across the front of her sweater dress to form a don’t-mess-with-me knot that was far, far more of a turn-on than it had a right to be.

“That’s what you hired me for, isn’t it? To manage your books effectively?”

“Yes,” Owen answered carefully, still caught between the desire to be annoyed, the desire to apologize, and, well, just plain desire.

“Well, then. Since I have my work cut out for me with a chainsaw, I suppose I should get to it,” Cate said.

After a quick internal debate, Owen nodded. Brash or not, he needed her. More than he cared to admit. “Okay, then.”

She answered by way of pushing up her sleeves and sliding an elastic from her wrist to secure her hair in a knot at the crown of her head. Even with the more casual edge, the powder-blue dress still hugged her curves, her calves flexing and releasing as she moved from one stack of boxes to the next in her heels, and he cleared his throat.

“Just so you know, we’re pretty casual around here. You don’t have to look nice.”

Cate’s cheeks flushed a shade of pink that, while highly pretty, didn’t bode well for him in the mending-fences department. “Good to know,” she said, and holy hell, why did his mouth refuse to cooperate with his brain around this woman?

“Not that you don’t look, uh. Fine like that. All I meant was, you don’t have to get dressed up. Jeans are okay.”

She stared down at the toes of her shiny black shoes, but only for a split second before meeting his stare with her own. “Got it, Casanova. Is that all?”

For just a heartbeat, Owen was tempted to say no, to dig deep into his Neanderthal brain for the right words to tell her she actually looked fucking beautiful. To surrender to the hot demands coming from both his chest and his cock, and cross the room to impulsively kiss her sexy, sassy mouth.

But this was Cate McAllister. His buddy Brian’s widow. He shouldn’t think she was pretty. He shouldn’t wonder if the skin on her shoulders bore the same provocative dusting of freckles as the neck she’d just put on display. And he damn sure shouldn’t be turned on like floodlights at the fire in her eyes that he’d never quite seen before, but seemed to somehow fit her perfectly.

So, he simply said, “Yes. That’s all,” and walked out of the room.

And don’t miss the first two standalone titles in the Cross Creek series, CROSSING HEARTS and CROSSING THE LINE!

Hunter Cross has no regrets. Having left his football prospects behind the day he graduated high school, he’s happy to carry out his legacy on his family’s farm in the foothills of the Shenandoah. But when a shoulder injury puts him face-to-face with the high school sweetheart who abandoned town—and him—twelve years ago, Hunter’s simple life gets a lot more complicated.

Emerson Montgomery has secrets. Refusing to divulge why she left her job as a hotshot physical therapist for a pro football team, she struggles to readjust to life in the hometown she left behind. The more time she spends with Hunter, the more Emerson finds herself wanting to trust him with the diagnosis of MS that has turned her world upside down.

But revealing secrets comes with a price. Can Hunter and Emerson rekindle their past love? Or will the realities of the present—and the trust that goes with them—burn that bridge for good?

Cocky farmer Eli Cross plays twice as hard as he works. When his latest stunt drums up a heap of negative PR for the family farm, he grudgingly agrees to play host to an ambitious New York City photographer. Her feature on Cross Creek could be just the ticket to show the country what the Cross brothers do best…which is more problem than solution for Eli.

Scarlett Edwards-Stewart has photographed everything from end zones to war zones. She’s confident she can ace this one little story to help her best friend’s failing magazine. At least, she would be if her super-sexy host wasn’t so tight lipped. But the more Scarlett works with Eli, the more she discovers that he’s not who he seems. Can his secret bring them closer together? Or will it be the very thing that tears them apart?

Spotlight: The Muse of Fire by Carol M. Cram

Abandoned at birth, the grandly christened Edward Plantagenet rises from London’s Foundling Hospital to take charge back stage at the Theatre Royal, Covent Garden, only to be blind-sided when he rescues Grace—a young woman escaping an abusive father.

Grace finds an outlet for her passions as a Shakespearean actress, becoming ensnared by intrigues and setbacks that mar the pathway to stardom she craves.

Set against the tumultuous backdrop of the Old Price Riots of 1809, Grace and Ned find common purpose in a quest that threatens to tear both their worlds apart.

“Meticulously researched and with an atmosphere so rich that one can almost smell the face powder, The Muse of Fire is another triumph for Carol M. Cram. The irresistible story at its heart is impeccably woven into the tapestry of British theatrical history with such precision that Grace and Ned might have stepped from the pages of the Georgian gossip sheets and straight into fiction. The Muse of Fire will linger long after reading. It’s not to be missed!” – Catherine Curzon, author of Queens of Georgian Britain, Life in the Georgian Court, and Kings of Georgian Britain

She didn’t know what to make of him yet. But she liked his honesty. “Hey. Knock it off. This is the first date I’ve been on in a long time,” she said, shifting to humor, her default setting. “Don’t mess it up for me. I’m trying to enjoy it.”

A surprised laugh burst from him. “Yes, ma’am.” He laughed again and eased back into his chair. “How is that possible, by the way?”

“How is what possible?”

“That a woman as gorgeous as you hasn’t been on a date in a long time?”

“My job’s kind of taken over my life,” she said, her insides warming from his compliment. “When I go home at night, I fall into bed. And even on my days off? I’m just either too tired or too sad to feel like hitting the bar scene. Not my style.”

He nodded, taking that in. “We have that in common, then. I’m also over the bar scene, and I’ve been working too much myself. Just got a promotion, so it was worth it, but... I hear you.”

She let her eyes run over his body, the muscles defined, taut and delectable in his charcoal-gray Henley and jeans. The man had the body of a god, the face of a model, and he oozed sex appeal. He was naturally charming and relatable, even though he screamed alpha male. She bet he had women throwing themselves at him all the time. “You know what? I call bullshit.”

He barked out a laugh. “Excuse me?”

“Your sob story rings false. I bet you date. Probably a lot. I mean, look at you.” She arched a brow mischievously.

“Whaaat?”

“Fess up, Officer. Honest to a fault? C’mon, let’s have it.”

“Damn, woman.” His grin was playful and sexy as hell. His dark eyes sparkled. “I mean... yeah, I’ve had dates. I go out. But nothing serious for a long time. My last real girlfriend was like... man, three years ago now.”

“Mmhmmm.” Amanda narrowed her eyes at him, equally playful.

“I swear that’s the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.” His brows arched as he added, “Related: I have nothing against short, hot flings. While I’m fessing up and all.”

“Duly noted, Officer.” She smiled, a fizzy feeling bubbling in her chest. She hadn’t flirted with anyone in so long. It felt good. It was fun. He was fun. And so goddamn gorgeous... ohhh, she wanted him. She wanted him bad. A short, hot fling with him sounded like heaven on earth. Quick as lightning, a vision flashed through her mind of the two of them rolling around naked in a big bed, white sheets beneath them, taking each other hard and hot...

Oh, look, she thought. There’s me throwing my brain out the window... Bye bye, brain.

Read an excerpt from Saving Grace by Gigi Aceves

Grace Carmichael’s world was turned upside down when she was fifteen. The convent became her home. The Grotto her safe haven. She lived, breathed, and learned a life she never chose. Ten years later, freedom came knocking and she took a chance she never thought she would.

Phoenix Hayes experienced a double dose of heartache when death tragically altered his life at seventeen. Being the ultimate warrior he has never doubted a mission. Except for one — saving Grace.

Sometimes to find yourself you have to risk everything including your heart — even your life.

Excerpt

“Come in, Grace.” Joe stretches his arm, welcoming me.

Nix’s broad shoulders, large frame, and sinewy muscles are intimidating yet magnificently striking. My eyes are immediately drawn to him, which makes for a stupid move since his fierce glare is aimed at me.

He doesn’t waste a single second before starting his barrage of words. “Do you know the shit storm you’re putting them in? Isn’t it enough that I got you here in one piece? You didn’t learn from what happened the other day?” He points at me and sneers in anger. “Let me tell you something; two of the beating hearts in this room are mine to protect.”

My eyes volley from Joe to Mama Ada, both wearing somber faces.

“You’d better pack your bags before shit hits the fan and more people end up dead because of you!”

“Phoenix Matthew Hayes!” Mama Ada bellows.

His words hurt. They cut deep.

But aren’t they the truth? Mother Gertrude and the rest of the nuns were lucky to survive the past ten years.

We both ignore Mama Ada as our eyes duel in a stare-down standoff.

“I am sorry for upsetting you; it wasn’t my intention. Mama Ada wants company. We go to church together. I give in to her whims to somehow repay her and your family for protecting me—a nobody in your book. If it puts them at risk, I will leave. I am sorry, truly sorry, for not thinking about the danger.”

I turn to face Joe, my tears blur my vision. “I’m sorry for causing a rift between you and your family.”

Turning to face Nix again, I say, “Give me a few minutes to get my stuff, and I’ll go wherever you want me to.”

“You could have been killed! Rachel could’ve been killed! How could you be so irresponsible?”

My lips itch to confess the truth. But throwing Rachel under the bus is not an option. “If they get lucky enough to kill me, then so be it. No one can save me forever, Nix. Not even you. I don’t care anymore.”

“Well, I fucking care! I put my life on the line for people like you!” He jabs his finger in my direction. “I put Mama Ada through hell and back each time I go on a mission.” He points his finger at her. “So, please…do not cheapen what I do by saying stupid shit!”

“I’m not cheapening anything. I’m just tired of running. I don’t know why you can’t at least understand that.”

Read an excerpt from Brother's Keeper II: Liam by Stephanie St. Klaire

Running blind, and hiding in plain sight may be your only option, when your villain isn’t just behind you but all around you. When a past Felicity Nichols thought was dead and buried threatens everyone she loves, that’s exactly what she encounters. There’s nowhere to run, nowhere to hide because her villain can follow her anywhere.

Liam O’Reilly is as loyal and protective as they come. When Felicity falls victim to a cyber stalker who wants something she has, he will stop at nothing to protect her and his family from the danger threatening them at every turn. Technology may make life easier for some, but it’s the smoking gun that can end it all for others.

Power, and money will never be enough – it will only get you so far. The power struggle threatens to turn deadly when Liam meets his match, behind the computer screen, in a race of wills against time.

Can Liam overcome his own past, or will it cost him another broken heart and shattered soul. Can Felicity be the light in his darkness and reveal that love is the most dangerous weapon of all?

Will Liam and Brother’s Keeper Security be able to bring a faceless predator to justice? Or, will Liam lose more than just a second chance at love? One thing is certain… sometimes you have to break the rules to protect what you love.

Excerpt

“So, this is a game of who can out technology the other now?” Dace asked with a chuckle.

“Exactly. He gave us a trail. We just need to find it in all of this,” Liam added, his fingers already tapping away. “There’s always a trail.’

“What ever happened to the bad guy just chasing us with a gun?” Luke asked, his tone laced in sarcasm but his question real.

“This is a new kind of manhunt, boys, like hunting someone who isn’t there,” Liam answered. “Technology can make you believe anything and everything then hide it all in an instant, like chasing a ghost. It’s now our greatest enemy while also our greatest tool. It’s how we are going to resolve this as much as it will threaten us.”

“So, get on that interweb thing of yours, Liam, and surf it or whatever. Find him – beat him. Case closed, brother.” Luke ended with a booming team Liam clap of his hands.

“I will, and it’s innerweb.” Liam smiled, focused on his wall of screens. “I just need to find the first needle in the fucking haystack that is layers and layers of coding and programming.”

“Ummm.” Felicity turned from her computer, interrupting the silence surrounding them. “I already may have found that needle you’re looking for. Well, found help anyway.”

Liam stopped what he was doing and listened. All they needed was a small break. “Okay? And?”

“He’s an old…friend. He’s actually how I got hooked up with Wells and ultimately met Dunham,” she explained. “I can’t reach him though. He’s off the grid. But I think I know where he is.”

Liam jumped to his feet and hung his cardigan sweater, swapping it for a jacket.

“Hold on, he needs to do his Mr. Rogers thing and hang the sweater. Are you going to change your shoes too?” Wylie teased. Liam was often the butt of many harassing jokes because he was the quieter brother with all of the fun quirks to pick at.

He flipped his brother off before turning to Felicity. “Let’s go.”
