Evie has always tried to be helpful, loyal, and only mildly involved in treason. Review

Adversary to the Villain isn’t a favorite of mine in the series. It felt a bit rushed at times, with everything moving so quickly that I had to work to keep up at times. And the plot has gotten so big that some parts felt confusing. Those parts would have benefited from a little more explanation or room for the story to breathe.

However, I still had fun and was entertained. There’s still so much of what I love about this series here, especially when it comes to the characters and the romance. There’s a lot of romance progression here for the majority of the characters. Of course, Evie and Trystan are great together. Although I felt like their time together was significantly reduced in this book. I definitely missed having more moments between them.

One thing I did love was seeing Trystan help Evie learn how to deal with her new powers. For most of the story, she was adjusting to the new reality. I liked seeing her struggle to understand what she is capable of, what these changes mean for her, and how she grows as a character.

Finally, that cliffhanger?! What a way to end it. I’m officially on the edge of my seat waiting to see what happens next.

Final Thoughts

Although Adversary to the Villain wasn’t a favorite of mine, there’s still a lot of good here that reminds me of why I love this series so much. The characters, humor, relationships, and overall chaos still make it such an entertaining read. Thank you to Entangled Publishing for providing the ARC!
