Disturbed by the direction of his thoughts, he drew in a cleansing breath and caught another whiff of her tantalizing scent. Annoyed by his infatuation with Juniper, he took a step back, uncertain what to say.

“We’d love to come,” Sassy said with enthusiasm before he could respond. “Thank you for inviting us.”

“Yes, thank you,” Bo said, finally forcing himself to speak. “Is there anything we can bring?”

“You don’t need to contribute anything, but you’re welcome to bring some of those delicious cookies you served with cocoa during the tour,” Cedar said, looking at Juniper. “The cookies were amazing, weren’t they, June?”

“Amazing,” Juniper repeated, glaring at her sister, then turning to Bo with a smile that looked sincere. “We’ll look forward to seeing you then.”

Bo got the feeling she meant what she said, that she’d be pleased if he attended the celebration. Despite the voice in his head yelling at him to find an excuse to stay away from Juniper, he heard himself say, “What time should we arrive?”

Fall From Grace

Torrential rain fell upon the six most powerful lords of Trellana as they fled through the dead of night.
